Hello, I’m LaKisha, the woman behind Sizable Chic where I encourage everyday women to live a sizable chic life one outfit, one dish, one trip, one word at a time. Come for the writing inspo and stay for the fashion tips and everything in between.
Launched in 2014, Sizable Chic is my space to share encouraging and inspirational posts that help you embrace who you are and who you want to be. I always dreamed of creating a magazine to help elevate my reader’s style, indulge your taste buds, transport you to destinations near and far, and provide articles that help you on your journey to being sizably chic.
The blog was born out of my friends telling me that I should start posting pictures of my outfits and grew into so much more. As a multi-passionate creative, Sizable Chic is the intersectionality of my many passions.
Based in Birmingham, AL, I began this journey as a fashion blogger but soon evolved into a lifestyle content creator. Now, I also consider myself a writerpreneur (What a fun word!). What is a writerpreneur, you asked? Well, as it pertains to me, a writerpreneur is a freelance writer, author, and entrepreneur all rolled into one.
WHY FASHION, FOOD, TRAVEL, and WRITING?
I have always had an eye for fashion. In the 2nd grade, we were asked to turn in a project showing what we wanted to be when we grew up, I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a fashion designer. So, I stretched designs, fashioned sample materials on a poster, and with my mom’s help, created a few outfits for my dolls. I made an A+ on that assignment. Starting in high school, I began modeling and continued until after I graduated from college. I loved walking the runway.
I consider myself a foodie and I am always capturing photos of my food. Thus, I bring noteworthy food experiences to the blog. And I am an avid traveler. Some of my favorite destinations in Hawaii, Croatia, Venice, and Alaska. I plan to bring more travel pieces to the blog.
